TUKENYA Technical Unversity of  Kenya (TUK) Suspension of Engineering Courses

Date Advertised: Friday, August 28, 2015 – 16:15
Pursuant to the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) advertisement that appeared on the local print media on 17th July 2015, listing engineering programmes that had not been accredited by them, the University Senate has decided to suspend the teaching of, and admission to Bachelor of Engineering programmes that require recognition by EBK.
The affected courses are:

  1. Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
  2. Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
  3. Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
  4. Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)

This decision has been taken after careful consideration of the contents of the EBK advertisement that warned the public against enrolling students in the non-EBK accredited engineering programmes. The students affected include both Government and self-sponsored.
BACKGROUND
TU-K would like to inform the stakeholders that the process of seeking accreditation for TU-K engineering programmes has been going on for some time. So far the university has complied with most of the requirements of EBK and the few outstanding issues are being addressed. The university therefore anticipates a speedy resolution of all pending issues to facilitate accreditation of her engineering programmes. EBK has however always insisted that TU-K should not admit new students to EBK non-accredited engineering programmes.
REPORTING AND RE-OPENING DATES
All new students except those admitted to the above listed Bachelor of Engineering programmes will report for orientation on 31st August 2015. Continuing students will report back on 7th September 2015 except those pursuing the above listed engineering programmes.
